Formally, it belongs to the F-family, but technically it is closer to K20A engines. This sporty inline-4 engine was launched in specifically for Honda S It had been developed almost from scratch.
It uses a new aluminum block of cylinders with the height of mm.F20B Accord vs 2015 Subaru STI
Inside there is a 84 mm piston stroke crankshaft; cylinder walls are made of FRM material. People often ask the same question: Does the F20C have forged internals? Sure, it has forged pistons, and their compression height is 29 mm with the compression ratio of For the rest of the world, compression ratio of Honda S has been reduced to Specially for F20C, new mm long lightweight connecting rods were used.
Thanks to all these mods, Honda engineers made an S engine with short-stroke configuration; it reduced vibration and made it possible not to install balancer shafts. The F20C head had also been re-designed, its head flow became much better than in the F20B engine. Here the VTEC system for intake and exhaust camshafts is used. This cylinder head has improved intake and exhaust ports, larger valves intake 36mm, exhaust 31 mmaggressive camshafts, and stiff valve springs.
Here a timing chain is used, unlike in other Honda F20 engines. For F20C, a small intake manifold, a lightweight flywheel only 6. Throttle body diameter is Thanks to all described above, as well as many other smaller parts, this naturally aspirated 2.
Honda engineers had got HP from 1 liter of displacement, this record had held untilthen Ferrari Italia beat it. The Honda F20C engine had been made untiland then it was discontinued. A problem with the timing chain tensioner. You can hear extraneous noise when starting the engine, and, in this case, at idle speed. Buy a new timing chain tensioner, and the problem will be solved.
This noise is usually heard after 70, miles, but can sometimes appear earlier. A problem with valve retainers. They may become destroyed, and your F20C will be destroyed as well. This happens due to oil starvation or too high revs. It is better to have them replaced, along with valve locks, for modified of the redesigned S made after High oil consumption. It is usual for F20C, and sometimes it can reach 1 qt.
Most likely, you have to replace the valve stem seals and piston rings, but specialists will be able to give a more details after diagnostics. High quality motor oil with timely replacement is most important for F20C engines, as this will postpone many problems. Reliability and longevity of the Honda S engine are quite high, as for a high-rev naturally-aspirated engine, and may exceedmiles, if the engine is serviced in a timely manner.
These performance parts will provide about extra 10 HP, and improve the sound of the engine. A standard intake manifold should be replaced with 50 mm throttle bodies, and OEM exhaust manifold should be replaced with headers, and a 3 inch performance exhaust system should be installed.
To approach HP at the wheels, you have to perform the most of head porting and install the 2.What's New? Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page: Results 1 to 10 of Options Show Printable Version.
Join Date Jan Location wo-town nc Posts OBD1 is the easiest to work with on this, the f20b ecu is unusable i forgot why but don't even bother with ordering it. Same with an f20b auto tranny not sure about the f20b manual but it should be fine, if you do happen upon a good deal on a f20b auto tranny it will fit 6th gen 4cylinders.
No special mounts will be needed simply remove your accord mounts and place them on the f20b. Obd2 manuals will need a regular obd harness which is around bucks. If you have a auto obd2 auto like me its more expensive so i recommend doing a manual swap H22a and accord trannys bolt up fine, recommend the accord tranny if you're going to boost I'v tried not to leave anything out but if i have i'll add it in.
This may seem like alot but think of the advantages The power or means to decide. A state of bodily equilibrium: 2. The ability to maintain bodily equilibrium: 3. A harmonious or satisfying arrangement or proportion of parts or elements, as in a design. How much will a complete swap cost?
I have a v6 but i sounds good maybe BTW what's the HP gain with an f20b? Can I keep the stock wheels in place with it? I am looking to build this car into a tuner, but slowly as it is my daily driver. Thanks to all. Why not do something different? Wanna help?! BTW, thanks for the info! F20B swap My manual transmission will bolt up to an F20B? Can I install a LSD in my transmission? What axles would serve me best? Thanks for your input. I appreciate my Honda brethren! I'm still getting hip to all of the JDM lingo. Are there better axle shafts made aftermarket instead of using JDM Honda axles, or is it better to use the Honda axles?
You guys are a great help. Where are you guys from anyway? I'm Jason in Houston, Texas. Any suggestions? Do I need to do anything with the ECU? Is a Hondata piggyback going to be necessary? What axles would you recommend to use?
Can I keep the stock wheels, making it a sleeper?

With sticky tires, would of been in the 13's fo sho. This has been covered numerous times. If you do some searching you'll find a LOT of results. You have to change some things. I would go H22A hands down.

The F20B has a higher redline, so you get the fun of revving it to the moon. Of course, it's getting older, and high revs are very hard on an engine Those are the benefits to the F20B Not bad, but an extra step or two. It shares many things in common with the H22A, so some parts are easy to find. However, any parts that are F20B specific will be more difficult to find, since we never got that engine in the US.
It is unlikely that you could go to Honda and order a part that is unique to the F20B. Now, I don't know which parts these are in particular, or if you'd ever even need to replace such a thing The F20B comes in two varieties You really can't tell them apart I believe the difference is in the cams So you'll have to trust whatever importer you buy from, or risk getting the lower powered one.
Honestly, performance-wise they're very VERY similar. The H22A is more well-rounded and more supported. That's what I would go with, personally. Just be sure you get a healthy one. But I just got hold of a ligit blue top just missin a piston. For damn near nothin. Base on my own experience I love the H22 for the lowend torque and the F20 for the high revs.
